What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are metal posts that are surgically implanted into your jawbone. They provide the foundation to secure a crown, bridge, or dentures.

You can get an immediate load implant in the same day at our office. This procedure requires no oral surgery. It's a satisfactory alternative if you're only having one tooth replaced or have adequate bone tissue to support a crown or appliance without bone grafting.

However, same-day implants are less stable and strong than permanent implants.

Mini-implants are about the width of a toothpick and require oral surgery to place. This is the solution most often used to secure a lower denture.

All-on-4® and All-on-6® procedures implant four or six posts and an abutment. Once the healing is complete, the posts will permanently support a full-arch denture. These are the strongest and most stable, and they offer the closest sensation to having natural teeth.

Implants are one of the most popular tooth restoration solutions. They offer very few drawbacks and several advantages.

The Benefits of Quality Dental Implants

Tooth loss doesn't just impact your confidence. Without a proper replacement, your speech and jawline will be affected. Missing teeth also make it difficult to enjoy the foods you love, like steak or corn on the cob.

Dentures are nice. They offer a replacement option for more than one or two missing teeth and for tooth loss due to advanced gum disease. But, they're not a permanent solution, and they don't prevent the bone loss that will change the shape and stability of your jaw.

Dental Implants are truly the next best thing to natural teeth. Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. The service offers a multitude of benefits for your oral health and well-being. Here's why dental implants are the best choice for tooth replacement:

Natural Look and Feel

Dental implants closely mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth. They allow you to eat, speak and smile with confidence.

Improved Oral Health

Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants help preserve your jawbone and prevent bone loss. If not taken care of, bone loss can lead to a sunken facial appearance and other oral health problems. Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they stop bone loss. They also provide a strong framework that fastens the denture, bridge, or individual tooth firmly to your gums for a more natural look, feel, and performance.

Long Lasting

Dental implants can last a lifetime (with proper care), making them a cost-effective and durable solution for missing teeth. You won't even notice the difference to your surrounding teeth.

High Success Rate

Dental implants have a success rate of over 95%. This makes them a reliable and effective choice for tooth replacement that, with proper care, will last you for years to come.

What to Expect During Your Dental Implant Procedure

At Newmarket Dental Care, we take pride in offering current solutions to age-old dental problems. Although placing the framework for your dental implants will be done by an oral surgeon and a periodontist, the final bridge, denture, or crown is an in-office procedure that we will take care of right here.

Your dental implant experience will begin with a consultation with our dentist in Newmarket, Dr Wayne Kin. He'll conduct an examination that includes X-Rays and takes into account your dental history, current condition, and tooth replacement goals.

Based on your consultation, Dr Wayne Kin will detail your options and make arrangements to proceed whenever you're ready.

Healing time after implant placement will be from four to six months. This will provide enough time for the implant to fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This provides the solid framework needed for your crown, bridge, or denture.

If you're getting a full-arch placement, and abutment a temporary tooth will be placed after the implant procedure. This allows limited bite while the jaw heals. Once the healing is completed on your bone and gum line, you'll return to our office again to put the final touches on your new smile!

It may seem like a long process, but this is a permanent solution that needs to be done right. The results and benefits are well worth the time and effort.
